Evaluation of my Practical language classes
Well, in this section I would like to generaly evaluate my sessions in Practical language. We did a lot of activities during the classes and I liked the idea that we could feel free to do activity we wanted to. The teacher was great, she was smiling all the time and I must admit that I was inspired by her behaviour. I would like to stay as positive as she did but it's going to be quite difficult job. We did all kinds of activities connected with practical language - listening, speaking, learning new vocabulary and had some interesting discussion. Moreover, we sometimes played games so we had to stand up and move around the classroom to talk with other students.
From my point of view it's pretty unrewarding work to learn "Practical language". Many students expect that they are going to learn almost everything during the study of the subject, even to speak fluently but it's so naive. There are twenty students in the classroom and it is not possible for a teacher to give individual attention to every of them. At least not for a long time. Nowadays, when I am a teacher I better understand that it is not possible for teachers to learn their students speak English and especially "Practical language" is the most difficult subject to teach. I have to remind my students that they have to speak on their own by speaking at home. I have twelve students in my class and if I gave individual attention to every of them I would have only about 4 minutes for an individual students. You can't learn to speak English if you talk only 4 minutes per hour!! I think that good teachers are able to motivate students to study and that's the most significant part of teaching. I am satisfied with "Practical language" because thank to the teacher's personality I was inspired to teach my students in a positive way. Moreover, I've realized that a teacher's smile is one of the most important prerequisites for a good teaching.
