During my study at the university I have learned that there are many kinds of learners. When I started teaching I found out that there is an infinite number of kinds of students.
Some types of students I've learned from my study:
- VISUAL LEARNERS
- AUDITORY LEARNERS
- KINESTHETIC LEARNERS
- INDIVIDUAL LEARNERS
- ANALYTICAL LEARNERS
- COMMUNICATIVE LEARNERS
AUTHORITY-ORIENTED LEARNERS

Some types of students I've learned as a teacher:
-
A troublemaker
a typical question of the troublemaker was "Why I should speak aloud when I make mistakes? I'll learn "wrong English"."
-
A needtoknoweverything
these kinds of students wanted to know really everything. When they were learning "present simple" I wanted them to work in pairs and have a conversation using some simple sentences in present simple. They consistently asked me questions like: "A jak bych řekl, že jsem včera nebyl v práci?" I reminded them that we were practising present simple not past simple but after a while some of them started to ask me again - uáááááááá :-).
-
A complicator
these students like creating as diffucult sentences as possible e.g.:
A student: "Pane učiteli? Chtěl bych se zeptat, jak mám říct, že si tady chci dát kávu v té restauraci? něco jako "I would like have in here in restauraunt coffee?"
A teacher: "Try to remember the article in your Student's book we read yesterday"
A student: "cože? co?
A teacher: "Zkus si vzpomenout na včerejší článek z učebnice"
A student: silence :-)
A teacher: "I would like a coffee, please. Když jsi v reastauraci v ČR tak také nepřijdeš za číšníkem a neřekneš "Dobrý den, chci si tady v té restauraci dát kávu".
A student: "Ajo vlastně, to je pravda"
There are many other kinds of students but it would be better to write a book not a portfolio :-). ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
