The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time
(esl-bits.net/ESL.English.Learning.Audiobooks/curious.incident.of.the.dog/chapter_index.html)
I've chosen this activity to improve listening, reading and also my pronunciation. I've already read the book and listened to 30 chapters of the audio book.
Then I decided to read the book again and recorded myself, but the recordings weren't very good when I made them with my laptop so I had to buy a digital voice recorder and I recorded myself from the very beginning. It really takes much time, because I read a chapter of the book silently, then I read it aloud and then I read the chapter aloud again and record myself. After that I listen to the narrator and try to repeat each sentence after him. Then I read the chapter aloud with the narrator and then I make the final recording - I read the chapter aloud without the narrator and I record myself. In my opinion this is the best activity for improving my English, because I can improve many English skills at the same time. It's very useful for my pronunciation, I can learn to speak more fluently, I can also concentrate on my pronunciation when I follow the narrator. The only problem is that it takes realy much time to make all the recordings. I did something very similar in the first semester, but I remember when the exam period started I just didn't have as much time as I needed for this activity. But I've decided that I have to do that no matter what, because I do feel that it's a very good way. I've decided to make at least 3 recordings per week and if I keep the promise I'm sure I can improve my pronunciation very quickly.
Below is the file where I'm going to put all the recordings:
